Silver Lining® Classic joins the fight against hunger

feeding-americaOn August 8, 2022, nearly 300 West Bend agents, business partners, friends, and associates came together for the Silver Lining Classic to raise funds for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and other organizations that fight hunger in our communities. The Silver Lining Classic is West Bend’s biennial charity event established to support worthy charities that do so much for the communities where we work and live.

This year’s event, which included a golf outing, dinner, and silent auction, was as huge success! We raised more than $500,000, significantly exceeding our goal of $250,000. We were thrilled to present Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin with a check for $250,000. The remaining funds will be distributed to other Feeding America locations and food banks in areas where West Bend does business.

We’re so thankful for the contributions, generosity, and support of our agents and business partners, who made this possible, with many of them traveling from around the state, as well as Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Michigan to help us combat hunger.

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger relief organization in the state, providing access to nutritious food. The organization serves rural, suburban, and urban locations across 35 eastern Wisconsin counties. This is essential as more than half a million Wisconsinites face hunger, including nearly 200,000 children.

“West Bend has supported our hunger relief work for many years, and this year more than ever. We are thrilled to accept such a sizeable donation that will be able to provide a million meals to local families facing hunger,” said Patti Habeck, president and CEO of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. “I’m thankful to the attendees for their amazing generosity and their help addressing the critical issue of hunger in our neighborhoods.”

How it all began

In 2006, West Bend hosted the first Silver Lining MACC Fund event, raising $60,000 to fight childhood cancer and related blood disorders. Held every other year since, the amount raised progressively increased, for a grand total of $3,775,000 raised from 2006 to 2020!

West Bend is so grateful for the incredible generosity and support of our agents, business partners, and associates whose time and contributions made this possible. With the creation of the Silver Lining Classic, we're excited to be able to extend the reach and impact of our biennial event by raising funds for other worthy organizations and continuing to serve our communities in meaningful ways.

Since founded in 1976, The MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer) has raised nearly $70 million for ground breaking cancer and related blood disorder research, giving hope to kids battling diseases.
